About

Lactobacillus gasseri is a probiotic species that naturally inhabits the human stomach and intestinal tract. Research suggests the LG21 strain may help support healthy pepsinogen production and gastric function, and has been studied for its potential to suppress H. pylori colonization. It may also help modulate gastric acid secretion, supporting overall upper GI comfort.

How It Works

Increases pepsinogen production accelerating protein digestion; suppresses H. pylori colonization through competitive exclusion and lactic acid production; modulates gastric acid secretion via interaction with parietal cell signaling; promotes healthy gastric mucosal environment.

Evidence For Conditions

Side Effects

  • Mild gas during initial use
  • Occasional loose stools
  • Rare abdominal discomfort
  • Very rare: bacteremia in immunocompromised individuals

Drug & Supplement Interactions

  • Antibiotics (may reduce probiotic viability; space dosing 2 hours apart)
  • Proton pump inhibitors (altered gastric pH may affect colonization)
  • Immunosuppressants (theoretical risk in immunocompromised patients)
