About

Bacillus coagulans is a spore-forming probiotic with exceptional stability and survivability through the harsh gastric environment. Unlike most probiotics, its spore form is resistant to heat, stomach acid, and bile salts. Research suggests the GBI-30 6086 strain may help support digestive comfort in IBS by producing L-lactic acid, bacteriocins (coagulin), and enhancing short-chain fatty acid production in the colon.

How It Works

Spore-forming probiotic that survives gastric acid, bile salts, and heat; produces L(+)-lactic acid in the colon lowering pH and inhibiting pathogens; secretes bacteriocin coagulin with broad antimicrobial activity; enhances SCFA production by cross-feeding beneficial colonic bacteria.

Side Effects

  • Mild gas during initial use (generally less than other probiotics due to spore form)
  • Occasional bloating
  • Rare loose stools

Drug & Supplement Interactions

  • Antibiotics (spore form is more resistant than vegetative probiotics, but spacing still recommended)
  • Immunosuppressants (theoretical risk in immunocompromised patients)
