Gut Dysbiosis

An imbalance in the gut microbial community linked to inflammation and disease.

Gut dysbiosis refers to an imbalance in the composition and function of the intestinal microbial community, characterized by reduced beneficial bacteria diversity, overgrowth of pathogenic organisms, or loss of microbial metabolic functions. Dysbiosis is associated with inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, obesity, autoimmune conditions, and even mood disorders via the gut-brain axis. It can impair nutrient absorption and increase systemic inflammation. Probiotic supplementation (strain-specific), prebiotic fibers (inulin, FOS), and dietary interventions (increased plant diversity) are primary strategies for restoring microbial balance.
